Volunteer opportunities

The Minnesota Air National Guard Museum seeks great people to join our volunteer team.

Our volunteers at the museum engage in various opportunities to apply diverse skills, learn new ones, and meet great people in the process.

We have Onsite and Offsite volunteer opportunities available.

ONSITE

Ongoing Museum ONSITE volunteer positions

No aviation knowledge is required. If you like to engage with people and enjoy aviation, the following volunteer positions will support onsite activities year-round.

Visitor Engagement

  • Docent (Tour Guide)

Museum Operations

  • Administrative assistant

  • Volunteer coordination support

  • Membership coordination support

  • Data entry

  • Marketing & Communications

  • Fundraising

  • Research & Archiving

  • Collections archivist support

  • Librarian

Museum Displays & Artifacts

  • Museum maintenance

  • Artifact restoration & preservation

  • Exhibit development & construction

OFFSITE

Volunteers are engaged in offsite museum activities, bringing the heritage and traditions of the Minnesota Air National Guard to popular events around Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Coordinating and executing such activities requires a lot of preparation and effort, and we need YOUR help!

No aviation knowledge is required.  If you like to engage with people and enjoy being outside, the following volunteer positions will support offsite events for this season.

Pre/Post offsite events

  • Offsite event logistics & coordination

  • Pre/post-show setup & breakdown

  • F4 Photo Phantom  / large exhibit truck & trailer driver

  • Road security shadow driver

During offsite events

  • Admission & tickets manager

  • F4 Photo Phantom cockpit security & support

  • Gift shop sales, coordination & support

Volunteer positions are open to all individuals.

  1. With an interest and commitment of at least twice a month of service to the museum

  2. Are at least 18 years of age

  3. Are U.S. citizen

  4. Have a valid enhanced driver’s license, or a regular driver’s license and a current (not expired) U.S. passport, or military identification

  5. Can perform defined duties

Volunteers work independently with other volunteers and with the permanent museum staff.
